THE ROLE

We are looking for a Trainee Tax Assistant to join our growing tax team in Corby. You’ll work alongside a team of experience tax professionals to learn the fundamentals, whilst studying for a relevant tax qualification such as ATT, CTA or others.

This role would suit both full or part-time candidates in line with our family flexible policy.

You’ll receive hands-on training as you work towards becoming a qualified tax accountant. You’ll be assigned mentors who will support and guide you, and you’ll have a structured development programme carefully designed to balance your practical experience with your professional training.

The role will have a mixed tax focus providing services to both businesses and personal tax clients, and you’ll work with a wide range of clients across a variety of sectors.

As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll have the opportunity to begin advising clients on their tax affairs and to resolve complex enquiries.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The role would suit someone who is currently or keen to start studying for a professional tax qualification (e.g. ATT or CTA).  Previous experience in an accountancy practice is desirable but not essential.

Strong numeracy skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are essential. From day one, you’ll engage directly with clients, so outstanding written and verbal communication skills are a must. Exceptional organisation and time management are critical, as you’ll be responsible for effectively managing and prioritising your workload.

Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with the team to drive projects forward and deliver high-quality results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and file Self-Assessment and Corporation tax returns for clients.

• Conduct technical tax research and analysis.

• Advise clients on their tax obligations.

• Work with HMRC to resolve queries.

• Build relationships with clients and colleagues.

• Continuously learn and stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

You will need:

• At least 7 GCSEs grade 4-9 with a 6 or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths

• 3 A Levels at grade B or equivalent is desirable but not essential

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
